GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Lois Williams grabbed her iPhone and hit record as the construction crane came to life, hoisting a small cupola onto the roof of the old Third Reformed Church in Grand Rapids’ East Hills neighborhood.
The retired school teacher, who was baptized and married at the church, watched closely Tuesday morning as construction workers attached the structure, marking the latest repair to the 144-year-old building that has fallen into disrepair in recent years.
